The Society for Pastoral Theology has published The Journal of Pastoral Theology since 1990.

The Society, founded in 1985, promotes scholarly conversation about pastoral theology, teaching, and research and methods. It also brings the discipline of pastoral theology into conversation with other academic and practical disciplines. The Society meets annually in June for a study conference.
